Employee Recreation & Benefits
If you live in a national park, you should enjoy your big backyard! Read below for some of the Recreation options and Benefits that keep us coming back season after season.
Recreation
- Yellowstone Concessioners' Employee Recreation Program (YCERP) – YGS contributes money each year to support YCERP. This program provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for all associates in the Park including softball, basketball, ping pong, raft trips, dances, movies & movie rentals, guided hikes, photo contests, talent shows and many others. Many program activities are free, while others have a small fee. Check out their website and gallery photos at http://www.ycerp.org/.
- NPS Interpretive Programs - The National Park Service also provides programs for visitors and employees in the Park, and YGS associates are able to join their lectures, hikes and shows. These programs are available in each area from approximately June 15 through Labor Day. Most NPS Visitor Centers also have free museum displays explaining park features or history to enhance your understanding of Yellowstone. See www.nps.gov/yell for more information!
- Yellowstone Association - Check out the Yellowstone Association for field seminars, classes and other exciting, educational activities.
I loved working in Yellowstone where I could travel and hike on my days off. I loved meeting people from other countries. A great summer job! - Summer 2008 employee
Benefits
- Store discounts – Yellowstone General Stores associates receive a 30% discount on many items.
- Free entry into YNP – As a YGS associate, you’ll receive season-long free entry into both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park.
- Reduced-cost medical services – A minimal (required) payroll-deduction fee allows seasonal staff in Yellowstone to receive reduced-cost treatment at in-park Medcor clinics. (Private insurance and Medicare are still considered primary.)
- Working with a progressive, award-winning “green” company – All YGS associates participate in GreenPath, our ISO 140001-certified environmental management system. We believe that working in a national park demands the highest level of environmental responsibility and we take great pride in our environmental practices to conserve energy and resources, reduce or eliminate waste wherever possible, and recycle extensively throughout the park.
Great experience, always working with smiling people. - Lydia M.
