West Yellowstone Weather

West Yellowstone tends to be a very sunny place, but mountain weather can be unpredictable.  During any season one should always be prepared for any kind of weather. 



Springtime is the wettest part of the year, with average highs ranging anywhere from 38º(F) to 58º(F), while the lows range from approximately 12º(F) to 29º(F)



Summer months bring hot days and cool nights, with average highs between 69º(F) and 77º(F) and lows between 36º(F) and 41º(F).  On average, July is the warmest month of the year. 



Fall has the driest months of the year with average temperatures of 33º(F) to 66º(F) during the day and 11º(F) to 30º(F) at night. 



On average, Winter brings the coolest month of the year, December.  During Winter the average lows range between 1º(F) and 4º(F), with highs ranging between 24º(F) and 30º(F).


West Yellowstone weather facts:

  • The highest recorded temperature was 97°(F) in 1936.
  • The lowest recorded temperature was -66°(F) in 1933.
  • The maximum average precipitation occurs in December.
  • The average snowfall is 100-200 inches.
