Yellowstone Winter Tours & Activities
Yellowstone Winter Sports
Rendezvous Ski Trails consists of over 35 kilometers of beautifully groomed trails that wind through tall stands of lodgepole pine and open meadows. The trail system is located entirely on Forest Service land.
Winter is "high season" for Yellowstone recreation.
Winter transforms Yellowstone into a crystal wonderland where the geologic “fire” that simmers just below the surface reacts with the ice and snow of the season. The juxtaposition is downright “steamy” at Yellowstone’s thermal basins and hot springs, which become dramatic magnets for wildlife seeking warmth and food.
Yellowstone winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow coach and snowmobile tours – and all of them offer great ways to get deep into the park. Take a scenic snow coach tour to Old Faithful, ski with winter wildlife, snowshoe around boiling mud pots, or spend an afternoon skiing the Rendezvous Ski Trails system. Winter is “high season” for Yellowstone recreation.
